My name is Dorothy Hanson and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State with over 25 years of experience treating trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, and mood disorders.

I can help you unlearn the patterns that are hurting your relationships and self-worth and guide you towards mindful living and self-acceptance.

Specifically, I help with:

  • Withdrawal and avoidance to healthy communication and presence

  • Self-defeating behaviors to self-empowering choices

  • Unresolved traumatic reactions to healthy self-regulation and connection

  • Negative self-talk to a positive relationship to self

  • Putting others first to putting yourself first (while still having good relationships with others). 

  • Replacing unhelpful beliefs about yourself with ones that are self-accepting and self-affirming.

My approach is centered around the belief that change happens from the inside out. I help by focusing on your internal experiences so that your feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations can be held with respect and curiosity. I also support you in exploring your life experiences, relationship needs and anything else you are struggling with. By focusing on the inside out, treatment becomes holistic and sustainable for your entire being.
